Stamped Hessian
Stamped Hessian (#E6F5C4) is a soft lime with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (78°, 71%, 86%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Old English stempan, to stamp — past-participle of stamp. As a color modifier, stamped implies a clear-and-impressed-and-repeating quality, the crisp color of William-Morris-and-Liberty-of-London block-printed-textile carefully-impressed pattern. Originally manufactured in Hesse (Germany), where the Hessian troops of the American Revolution wore yellow uniforms.
