Sprayed Indicolite
Sprayed Indicolite (#BAE3F5) is a soft cyan with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (198°, 75%, 85%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary orange. Middle Dutch sprayen, to spray — past-participle of spray. As a color modifier, sprayed implies a pale-and-fine-droplet-and-mist-applied quality, the pale color of Mid-Century-Modern spray-painted automotive-and-furniture finely-atomized-and-fine-droplet-pattern surface-finish. Sits at the pale-and-soft end of the grid, parallel to misted and atomized in usage.
A blue variety of tourmaline — colored by trace iron, mined principally in Brazil, Mozambique, and Pakistan. The color refers to a faceted Brazilian indicolite: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the gem's signature internal warmth. Cooler than aquamarine.
