Hazy Niloo
Hazy Niloo (#AFC2DD) is a soft azure with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (215°, 40%, 78%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary amber. Etymology
An adjectival form of haze — used as a color modifier since the eighteenth century for hues that read as if seen through atmospheric haze. Hazy yellow, hazy blue: low saturation combined with optical softness. Sits at the pale-bucket alongside misty and cloudlike.
The Persian word for indigo plant — borrowed from Sanskrit nīla (dark blue). Niloo names the plant Indigofera tinctoria in Persian and the saturated deep blue dye it produces. The color refers to a freshly niloo-dyed Persian carpet: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the matte finish of plant-and-mordant dye.
