Assured Karashi
Assured Karashi (#A12C0B) is a deep red with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (13°, 87%, 34%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old French aseürer, to give assurance — past-participle of assure. As a color modifier, assured implies a saturated-and-confident quality where the hue carries unwavering certainty about its own visual identity. Sits at the bold-and-confident end of the grid, parallel to certain and poised.
The Japanese word for prepared mustard — a sharper, more horseradish-leaning mustard than its Western counterpart, served as a condiment with natto and oden. The color refers to fresh karashi paste on a small dish: a saturated, slightly muted yellow-orange with the dusty finish of mustard-seed powder. Warmer than mustard, drier than turmeric.
