Settled Haldi
Settled Haldi (#9A7506) is a deep amber with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (45°, 93%, 31%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
The past participle of settle, to come to rest — used as a color modifier since the seventeenth century for hues that read as stabilized after a process. Settled green, settled brown: moderate saturation combined with optical permanence. Sits at the crisp-bucket alongside steady and composed.
The Hindi word for turmeric — the South Asian spice and ceremonial pigment used in Hindu haldi pre-wedding rituals and in gor-haldi (turmeric milk). The color refers to fresh haldi paste applied to skin in a wedding ritual: a saturated, slightly red-shifted yellow with the dusty finish of fresh-ground rhizome. Warmer than turmeric.
