Flat Polenta
Flat Polenta (#957E0A) is a deep amber with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (50°, 87%, 31%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary blue. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.

Old Norse flatr, flat / level. As a color modifier, flat implies a clear-and-evenly-spread quality where the hue carries the matte-finish visual register of unmodulated single-plane surface. Sits at the crisp-and-balanced end of the grid, parallel to level and even in usage.
Italian cornmeal porridge — eaten across northern Italy as a staple grain since corn arrived from the Americas in the sixteenth century. The color refers to a fresh-cooked yellow polenta: a saturated, slightly red-shifted gold-yellow with the matte finish of cooked maize. Warmer than buttercup.
