Pressed Zafarani
Pressed Zafarani (#8E5D0C) is a deep amber with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (37°, 84%, 30%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Latin pressāre, to press — past-participle of press. As a color modifier, pressed implies a clear-and-smoothed-and-flattened quality, the crisp color of Mid-Century-Modern freshly-pressed-shirt-and-trouser ironed-textile finish. Sits at the crisp-and-finished end of the grid, parallel to ironed and starched in usage.
The Persian word for saffron-colored — used for the warm yellow-orange of zafarani-čubeh and the saffron-dyed silk of Safavid court robes. The color refers to zafarani-dyed silk: a saturated, slightly red-shifted gold-yellow with the satin finish of plant-dyed silk. Warmer than saffron, deeper than zard.
