Etched Hiwa
Etched Hiwa (#8A7B04) is a deep amber with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (53°, 94%, 28%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. German ätzen, to etch — past-participle of etch. As a color modifier, etched implies a clear-and-precisely-incised quality, the crisp color of Rembrandt-and-Dürer hand-pulled etching-print fine-line incised-image. The Japanese name for the Eurasian siskin — Spinus spinus — and for the bright yellow-green of its plumage. Hiwa-iro refers to the saturated yellow-green color used in kosode kimono linings and woodblock prints. The color refers to a freshly molted siskin: a saturated, slightly green-shifted yellow with the matte finish of carotenoid feathers.
