Lined Kihada
Lined Kihada (#8A7A08) is a deep amber with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (53°, 89%, 29%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary blue. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Old English līne, line / cord — past-participle of line. As a color modifier, lined implies a clear-and-coordinated-and-supported quality where the hue carries the visual register of carefully-lined-and-supported textile-or-print surface. Sits at the crisp-and-finished end of the grid, parallel to trim and coordinated in usage.
Phellodendron amurense, the Amur cork tree — and the bright yellow inner bark used as a Japanese textile dye and traditional medicine. Kihada-iro refers to the saturated yellow of kihada-dyed silk. The color refers to fresh kihada-bark powder: a saturated, slightly cool deep yellow with the matte finish of plant-derived pigment. Cooler than turmeric.
