Greek stróbos, whirling — present-participle of strobe. The family Coraciidae — Old World rollers whose acrobatic flight gives the family its name. Coracias caudatus (lilac-breasted roller) of southern Africa displays saturated turquoise wing covers. The color refers to a male lilac-breasted roller's wing: a saturated, slightly cool deep turquoise.
