Reticent Gunmetal
Reticent Gunmetal (#011C06) is a deep green with a jewel character. It carries the deep, saturated richness of a gemstone. Authoritative and slightly formal, it works well for type and heavy UI elements. Its HSL profile (131°, 93%, 6%) places it in the highly saturated band at a dark lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Latin reticēns, silent — present-participle of reticēre. As a color modifier, reticent implies a neutral-and-quietly-withholding quality where the hue carries the visual register of Quaker-and-Puritan quietly-withholding-and-restrained color-decision. The bronze alloy historically used for gun barrels and cannon — copper, tin, and zinc, with the dark patinated finish that gives the color its name.
