Grim Blå

Old English grimm, fierce / fierce-faced — sharing root with German grimm and Old Norse grimmr. The Scandinavian word for blue — used for the Dannebrog blå (Danish flag blue) and the saturated deep blue of Norwegian and Swedish folk costumes. The color refers to a Norwegian bunad embroidered detail: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue with the matte finish of dyed wool.
