Voluptuous Akiq (#FF0127) is a true red with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Latin voluptuōsus, pleasurable — derived from voluptās (pleasure). As a color modifier, voluptuous implies a saturated-and-rich-and-curving-sensual quality, the deep-rich color of Rubens-and-Boucher baroque-and-rococo flesh-and-fabric tonality. Sits at the bold-and-saturated end of the grid, parallel to lush and plush in tone.
The Arabic word for carnelian — the translucent red chalcedony seal-stone of the Islamic world, traditionally believed to deflect evil. Used for carved engagement rings, prayer-bead strands, and the seal-stones of Mughal court documents. The color refers to a polished akiq cabochon: a soft, slightly translucent red-orange with the warmth of iron-stained chalcedony. Warmer than carnelian, drier than coral.
