Ethereal Amalfi

#fdfde6
Notes

Ethereal Amalfi (#FDFDE6) is a soft yellow with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (60°, 85%, 95%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary blue. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.

Etymology

Ethereal
adjective

From the Greek aithēr, upper air — used as a color modifier since the seventeenth century for hues that read as light, delicate, and otherworldly. Ethereal blue, ethereal pink: very low saturation combined with the optical impression of suspended-in-air translucency. Sits at the pale-bucket alongside ghostly.

Amalfi refers to a fresh Sfusato lemon at midday on the Tyrrhenian coast: a saturated, slightly cool yellow with the satin finish of citrus rind. Brighter than limone.
