Folded Cherry
Folded Cherry (#FDA7A9) is a soft red with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (359°, 96%, 82%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old English fealdan, to fold — past-participle of fold. As a color modifier, folded implies a clear-and-creased-and-arranged quality where the hue carries the visual register of carefully-folded-and-neatly-arranged textile surface. Borrowed into English from the Old North French cherise, the cherry has been a cultivated red since at least the Greek colonies of Pontus on the Black Sea. The color refers specifically to the fruit at full ripeness — a clean, sweet red, brighter than wine and warmer than crimson, somewhere between Prunus avium and the lacquered finish of a Stradivarius.
