Engraved Sangria
Engraved Sangria (#FD9ED3) is a soft magenta with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (327°, 96%, 81%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Old French engraver, to dig in — past-participle of engrave. As a color modifier, engraved implies a clear-and-precisely-cut quality, the crisp color of Albrecht-Dürer-and-Hogarth hand-pulled engraving-print fine-line incised-image. Sits at the crisp-and-incised end of the grid, parallel to etched and inscribed in usage.
Spanish for bleeding — the wine punch named for its color, not the other way around. The color is the deep red of Tempranillo or Garnacha aerated with citrus and fruit: a warm, slightly translucent red-violet that catches light through a glass jug. Less black than burgundy, warmer than wine, with the dusty rim of a long afternoon.
