Kindled Spessartine
Kindled Spessartine (#FD8A19) is a true orange with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (30°, 98%, 55%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Old Norse kynda, to set on fire — past-participle of kindle. As a color modifier, kindled implies a saturated-and-newly-lit quality, the bright color of autumn-bonfire-and-stove-fire initial-combustion emission. Sits at the bright-and-warm end of the grid, parallel to ignited and aflame in usage.
A manganese-aluminum garnet — orange to red-orange in color, mined principally in Namibia, Mozambique, and California. Spessartine takes its name from the Spessart region of Germany. The color refers to a faceted Namibian spessartine: a saturated, slightly red orange with the gem's signature internal life. Brighter than hessonite.
