Skimming Brandy
Skimming Brandy (#FCEEDA) is a soft amber with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (35°, 85%, 92%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Old Norse skimr, brightness — present-participle of skim. As a color modifier, skimming implies a pale-and-surface-light-touching quality where the hue carries the visual register of swallow-flight-and-stone-skipping surface-and-glancing rapid-movement. Sits at the pale-and-soft end of the grid, parallel to glancing and brushing in usage.
The grape-distilled spirit — particularly French Cognac and Armagnac, aged in oak barrels for the warm gold-brown of Old World brandy. The color refers to a Cognac VS in a snifter: a soft, slightly red-shifted warm gold with the optical clarity of grape-distilled spirit aged 2–5 years.
