Live Abricot
Live Abricot (#FC8024) is a true orange with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (26°, 97%, 56%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old English libban, to live — used as a color word since the nineteenth century for hues that read as active or animate. Live wire, live color: the implication is luminance combined with the optical impression of internal motion. Sits in the bright-bucket center alongside vivid and vibrant.
The French word for apricot — Prunus armeniaca, the stone fruit cultivated in the south of France for compote and tarte aux abricots. Abricot as a color refers to the inside of a sun-ripe Provençal apricot: a soft, slightly pink orange with the matte velvet finish of stone-fruit flesh. The French cousin of apricot.
