Antiseptic Sphalerite (#FBEBA3) is a soft amber with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (49°, 92%, 81%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Greek anti- (against) plus sēptikós (putrefying) — adjectival suffix -ic. As a color modifier, antiseptic implies a clear-and-disinfected-and-clinical quality, the crisp color of medical-laboratory and operating-theater hand-scrub-and-sanitizer surfaces. Sits at the crisp-and-clean end of the grid, parallel to sterile and sanitary in usage.
A zinc sulfide mineral — both an important zinc ore and a high-dispersion gem with adamantine luster. The yellow variety is mined principally in Spain and Mexico. The color refers to a faceted yellow Spanish sphalerite: a saturated, slightly cool yellow-orange with the gem's signature internal fire (higher dispersion than diamond).
