Powdery Ruby
Powdery Ruby (#FBD3CF) is a soft red with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Old French poudre, powder — adjectival suffix -y. From the Latin ruber — simply, red. The gemstone is a chromium-tinged corundum, harder than anything in nature except diamond, and so saturated that a fine Burmese pigeon's blood ruby at auction outpaces a comparable diamond by weight.
