Loud Alkanet
Loud Alkanet (#FB4C45) is a true red with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old English hlūd, making noise — borrowed metaphorically as a color word since the nineteenth century. Anchusa tinctoria, the Mediterranean borage whose roots yield a red dye used since classical times for cosmetics and wine coloring.
