Refreshing Tugtupite
Refreshing Tugtupite (#F6A3D4) is a soft magenta with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (325°, 82%, 80%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary teal. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Old French refreschir, to make fresh again — present-participle of refresh. As a color modifier, refreshing implies a clear-and-cool-and-revitalizing quality, the crisp color of Cornish-coast and Hebridean-island fresh-sea-air-and-cool-water revitalization. Sits at the crisp-and-cool end of the grid, parallel to fresh and bracing in usage.
Rare beryllium-zinc silicate mineral first described from the Tugtup agtakôrfia (reindeer-blood place) deposit of Greenland in 1962. The mineral is fluorescent and tenebrescent (color-changes with UV exposure). Tugtupite color refers to a freshly UV-exposed Tugtup agtakôrfia tugtupite cabochon: a saturated, slightly cool deep magenta with the silky finish of tenebrescent beryllium-silicate. The Greenlandic name reflects Inuit reindeer-blood iconography.
