Wired Umbria (#F5BC2F) is a true amber with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Etymology
Old English wīr, wire — past-participle of wire. As a color modifier, wired implies a saturated-and-electrical-charged-and-active quality, the bright color of Tesla-coil-and-Van-de-Graaff high-voltage atmospheric-electrical emission. Sits at the bright-and-active end of the grid, parallel to charged and electrified in usage.
The Italian region — and the terra di Siena and terra d'ombra (umber) earth pigments mined there since the Renaissance. Umbria refers to a freshly ground raw umber pigment in oil: a soft, slightly muted warm dark brown with the matte finish of iron-and-manganese earth. Cooler than sienna, deeper than tabacco.
