Engraved Sidon
Engraved Sidon (#F5A7E4) is a soft magenta with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (313°, 80%, 81%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary green. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.

Old French engraver, to dig in — past-participle of engrave. As a color modifier, engraved implies a clear-and-precisely-cut quality, the crisp color of Albrecht-Dürer-and-Hogarth hand-pulled engraving-print fine-line incised-image. Sidon color refers to a Sidon-produced Tyrian purple-dyed Phoenician trade textile: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the matte finish of multi-bath Hexaplex trunculus shellfish dye on hand-loomed Levantine cloth.
