Live Tugtupite
Live Tugtupite (#F35BB6) is a true magenta with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (324°, 86%, 65%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary green. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Old English libban, to live — used as a color word since the nineteenth century for hues that read as active or animate. Live wire, live color: the implication is luminance combined with the optical impression of internal motion. Sits in the bright-bucket center alongside vivid and vibrant.
Rare beryllium-zinc silicate mineral first described from the Tugtup agtakôrfia (reindeer-blood place) deposit of Greenland in 1962. The mineral is fluorescent and tenebrescent (color-changes with UV exposure). Tugtupite color refers to a freshly UV-exposed Tugtup agtakôrfia tugtupite cabochon: a saturated, slightly cool deep magenta with the silky finish of tenebrescent beryllium-silicate. The Greenlandic name reflects Inuit reindeer-blood iconography.
