Antiseptic Amalfi
Antiseptic Amalfi (#EFF2BF) is a soft yellow with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (64°, 66%, 85%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary blue. Etymology
Greek anti- (against) plus sēptikós (putrefying) — adjectival suffix -ic. As a color modifier, antiseptic implies a clear-and-disinfected-and-clinical quality, the crisp color of medical-laboratory and operating-theater hand-scrub-and-sanitizer surfaces. Sits at the crisp-and-clean end of the grid, parallel to sterile and sanitary in usage.
The Italian Mediterranean coast — and the lemon-yellow of Amalfi Sfusato lemons (twice the size of common lemons, used in limoncello). Amalfi refers to a fresh Sfusato lemon at midday on the Tyrrhenian coast: a saturated, slightly cool yellow with the satin finish of citrus rind. Brighter than limone.
