Throbbing Tahini
Throbbing Tahini (#EFC331) is a true amber with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (46°, 86%, 56%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary blue. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Imitative-onomatopoeic origin — present-participle of throb, with sound-and-action mimicry. As a color modifier, throbbing implies a saturated-and-pulsing-and-resonant quality, the bright color of bass-drop-and-rave-light low-frequency rhythm-pulse emission. Sits at the bright-and-active end of the grid, parallel to pulsating and strobing in usage.
The Levantine sesame-seed paste — ground roasted sesame, the foundation of baba ganoush, halva, and many Middle Eastern sauces. The color refers to fresh-stirred tahini in a small bowl: a soft, slightly warm cream-tan with the slightly oily matte finish of ground oilseed.
