Effulgent Brazilin
Effulgent Brazilin (#EF6EC4) is a true magenta with a cool character. It leans cool, sitting on the blue, green, and violet side of the wheel. Quiet and dependable, a fit for product UI and data visualization. Its HSL profile (320°, 80%, 68%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Latin effulgēns, shining-out — present-participle of effulgere, sharing root with fulgor (lightning). As a color modifier, effulgent implies a saturated-and-radiating-light-out quality, the bright color of Renaissance-Madonna halo-and-aureole gold-leaf-and-pigment emission. Sits at the bright-and-saturated end of the grid, parallel to resplendent and radiant in usage.
Caesalpinia brasiliensis — a Brazilian legume tree whose heartwood was the colonial-era principal source of brazilin dye, harvested at industrial scale from the Mata Atlântica and giving the country Brazil its English name. Brazilin color refers to a freshly brazilin-mordant-dyed wool: a saturated, slightly cool deep magenta with the matte finish of multi-bath plant-and-mordant-dyed woolen fiber. Warmer than campeche (logwood).
