Ironed Knossos
Ironed Knossos (#EEB1F9) is a soft violet with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (291°, 86%, 84%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old English īsern, iron — past-participle of iron. As a color modifier, ironed implies a clear-and-smoothed-and-pressed quality, the crisp color of Mid-Century-Modern freshly-ironed-shirt-and-trouser dress-attire textile finish. Sits at the crisp-and-finished end of the grid, parallel to pressed and starched in usage.
Minoan Cretan palace-complex (occupied c. 1900–1370 BCE) — the legendary court of King Minos and a major Bronze-Age Tyrian purple production center supplying the Aegean trade network. Knossos color refers to a Knossos-period Minoan purpura-dyed fresco border: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the matte finish of multi-bath Hexaplex trunculus shellfish dye on lime-plaster wall painting.
