Greek phōsphóros, light-bringer — adjectival suffix -ic. Anthurium color refers to a fully opened Anthurium andraeanum spathe-and-spadix: a saturated, slightly cool deep magenta with the glossy finish of waxy-cuticular spathe surface. The Greek genus name anthos (flower) and ourá (tail) refers to the spadix.
