Sanitary Kihada
Sanitary Kihada (#EDE6B7) is a soft amber with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (52°, 60%, 82%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary blue. Latin sānitās, health — adjectival suffix -ary. As a color modifier, sanitary implies a clear-and-clean-and-medical quality, the crisp color of Bauhaus-and-Modern clinical-and-hospital interior-architecture white-tile-and-stainless-steel surfaces. Sits at the crisp-and-clean end of the grid, parallel to hygienic and sterile in usage.
Phellodendron amurense, the Amur cork tree — and the bright yellow inner bark used as a Japanese textile dye and traditional medicine. Kihada-iro refers to the saturated yellow of kihada-dyed silk. The color refers to fresh kihada-bark powder: a saturated, slightly cool deep yellow with the matte finish of plant-derived pigment. Cooler than turmeric.
