Engraved Nineveh
Engraved Nineveh (#ECB5E2) is a soft magenta with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (311°, 59%, 82%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Old French engraver, to dig in — past-participle of engrave. Nineveh color refers to an Assyrian-court purpura-bordered tribute textile in the Library of Ashurbanipal: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the matte finish of multi-bath shellfish dye on hand-loomed Mesopotamian wool.
