Whispered Sorrel
Whispered Sorrel (#EBFFDF) is a soft lime with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (98°, 100%, 94%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
The past participle of whisper, used metaphorically as a color modifier for hues that read as barely audible — the visual equivalent of a sound so quiet you have to lean in to catch it. Whispered pink, whispered gray: very low saturation combined with high lightness, almost at the perception threshold. Sits at the pale-bucket extreme alongside faint and ghostly.
Rumex acetosa, the European dock-family green whose tart oxalic-acid leaves are eaten as soup ingredient (soupe d'oseille) and salad green. The color refers to fresh sorrel leaves in spring: a saturated, slightly muted yellow-green with the matte finish of arrow-shaped leaves. Cooler than spinach.
