Charged Pallium
Charged Pallium (#EBA1F1) is a soft violet with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (296°, 74%, 79%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary green. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Old French chargier, to load — past-participle of charge, sharing root with cargo. As a color modifier, charged implies a saturated-and-electrically-loaded quality where the hue carries visual potential-energy. Sits at the bright-and-active end of the grid, parallel to electrified and energetic in usage.
Roman cloak — and the medieval pallium of the Pope, a deep-violet wool stole worn as a Petrine symbol of papal authority. Pallium color refers to a 12th-century Lateran-period papal pallium: a saturated, slightly cool deep violet with the matte finish of multi-bath Tyrian shellfish-dye on hand-spun ecclesiastical wool. The Latin word pallium also gave English pall and palliative.
