Pressed Hiwa (#EAF1B3) is a soft yellow with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Latin pressāre, to press — past-participle of press. As a color modifier, pressed implies a clear-and-smoothed-and-flattened quality, the crisp color of Mid-Century-Modern freshly-pressed-shirt-and-trouser ironed-textile finish. The Japanese name for the Eurasian siskin — Spinus spinus — and for the bright yellow-green of its plumage. Hiwa-iro refers to the saturated yellow-green color used in kosode kimono linings and woodblock prints. The color refers to a freshly molted siskin: a saturated, slightly green-shifted yellow with the matte finish of carotenoid feathers.
