Honest Morganite
Honest Morganite (#EAA8D0) is a soft magenta with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (324°, 61%, 79%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary green. Etymology
Latin honestus, honorable — used as a color modifier since the seventeenth century for hues that read as straightforward and unembellished, the working browns and grays of vernacular architecture rather than the polished shades of court fashion. Pink variety of the cyclosilicate beryl — first described from the San Piero in Campo deposits of Elba in 1911 and named for the financier J.P. Morgan. The color comes from manganese-and-cesium substitution. Morganite color refers to a faceted San Piero morganite gemstone: a saturated, slightly cool deep magenta with the glassy finish of cesium-and-manganese-substituted beryl. Cooler and pinker than aquamarine.
