Wisp Hibiscadelphus (#E9C6D2) is a soft magenta with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Etymology
Middle English wisp, small bundle — used as a color modifier since the seventeenth century for hues that read as barely-present or evanescent. Wisp white, wisp pink: very low saturation combined with the optical impression of something just barely there. Sits at the pale-bucket extreme alongside faint.
A genus of Hawaiian endemic hibiscus relatives — H. distans and H. giffardianus — whose deep red flowers are pollinated by Hawaiian honeycreepers. Most species are now extinct or critically endangered. The color refers to the petal of a fresh H. distans bloom: a saturated, slightly cool deep red with the satin finish of mallow-family flower.
