Wired Goji

#e865c7
Notes

Wired Goji (#E865C7) is a true magenta with a vibrant character. It holds its own as a focal accent, carrying visual weight without tipping into neon territory. Its HSL profile (315°, 74%, 65%) places it in the balanced band at a mid lightness. It works across type, buttons, and borders, saturated enough to feel deliberate but balanced enough to not fight the rest of the palette. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary green. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.

Etymology

Wired
adjective

Old English wīr, wire — past-participle of wire. As a color modifier, wired implies a saturated-and-electrical-charged-and-active quality, the bright color of Tesla-coil-and-Van-de-Graaff high-voltage atmospheric-electrical emission. Sits at the bright-and-active end of the grid, parallel to charged and electrified in usage.

Goji
noun

Chinese Lycium barbarum (枸杞) — a Solanaceae shrub native to the Ningxia region of north-central China, whose deep-magenta drupes have been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for two millennia. Goji color refers to a freshly dried Lycium barbarum drupe-cluster on a Ningxia sun-drying mat: a saturated, slightly cool deep magenta with the matte finish of carotenoid-and-anthocyanin-rich dried-fruit skin.

This color is chromatic enough that authoring it as P3 native (instead of clamping to sRGB) gives a perceptibly more saturated render on wide-gamut displays — modern Macs, iPhones, iPads, and most recent OLED laptops.
