Squared Zafarani
Squared Zafarani (#E6CFAC) is a soft amber with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (36°, 54%, 79%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary azure. Etymology
Latin quadrātus, four-sided — past-participle of square. As a color modifier, squared implies a clear-and-rectilinear-and-orthogonal quality where the hue carries the visual register of right-angle architectural-and-grid alignment. The Persian word for saffron-colored — used for the warm yellow-orange of zafarani-čubeh and the saffron-dyed silk of Safavid court robes. The color refers to zafarani-dyed silk: a saturated, slightly red-shifted gold-yellow with the satin finish of plant-dyed silk. Warmer than saffron, deeper than zard.
