Modest Borscht
Modest Borscht (#E5BAD6) is a soft magenta with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Latin modestus, moderate — used as a color modifier since the sixteenth century for hues that read as understated and unwilling to claim more visual space than they need. Borscht color refers to a freshly served bowl of Ukrainian bórshch with a sour-cream swirl: a saturated, slightly cool deep magenta with the matte finish of betalain-pigmented beet broth. Slightly warmer than Belarusian barszcz.
