Tracer Ginkgo (#E4C20E) is a true amber with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (50°, 88%, 47%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Old French tracier, to trace — sharing root with English trace and track. As a color modifier, tracer implies a saturated-and-streak-of-light quality, the bright color of military-tracer-round and long-exposure-photography light-trail visual streak. Ginkgo biloba, the Chinese tree species predating dinosaurs — a living fossil whose fan-shaped leaves turn brilliant yellow in autumn. Often called the maidenhair tree. The color refers to a Ginkgo canopy at peak autumn color: a saturated, slightly cool deep yellow with the satin finish of carotenoid-rich autumn leaves.
