Cellophane Aotearoa
Cellophane Aotearoa (#E2FCE0) is a soft green with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (116°, 82%, 93%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Modern French cellophane, cellulose-thin-film — coined in 1900 by Jacques-E.-Brandenberger. As a color modifier, cellophane implies a pale-and-clear-and-thin-film quality, the pale color of Mid-Century-Modern clear-and-thin cellulose-acetate cellophane-wrapping translucent-film surface. Sits at the pale-and-thin end of the grid, parallel to glassine and tissue in usage.
The Māori name for New Zealand — the land of the long white cloud — and the saturated deep green of New Zealand's South Island fjordland and fern understory. Aotearoa refers to a Fiordland forest understory: a saturated, slightly cool deep yellow-green with the matte finish of Cyathea tree-fern foliage.
