Skimming Pumice
Skimming Pumice (#E2D1BF) is a soft orange with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (31°, 38%, 82%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Old Norse skimr, brightness — present-participle of skim. Pumice color refers to a freshly cleaved Pompeii-Pumice pyroclastic-flow deposit face: a pale cool gray with the matte finish of cooling-rate-quenched highly-vesicular silicic-magma-glass with the characteristic pumice-stone macroporosity.
