Pressed Hops
Pressed Hops (#E0FDD1) is a soft green with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Latin pressāre, to press — past-participle of press. As a color modifier, pressed implies a clear-and-smoothed-and-flattened quality, the crisp color of Mid-Century-Modern freshly-pressed-shirt-and-trouser ironed-textile finish. Sits at the crisp-and-finished end of the grid, parallel to ironed and starched in usage.
Humulus lupulus, the climbing vine whose female flower clusters (cones) flavor beer with bittering oils and aromatic compounds. The color refers to fresh hop cones at harvest: a saturated, slightly cool yellow-green with the matte finish of papery flower bracts. Drier than vine.
