Sanitary Tampopo
Sanitary Tampopo (#DFF49F) is a soft lime with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (75°, 79%, 79%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Latin sānitās, health — adjectival suffix -ary. As a color modifier, sanitary implies a clear-and-clean-and-medical quality, the crisp color of Bauhaus-and-Modern clinical-and-hospital interior-architecture white-tile-and-stainless-steel surfaces. Sits at the crisp-and-clean end of the grid, parallel to hygienic and sterile in usage.
The Japanese word for dandelion — Taraxacum officinale, the cosmopolitan composite-family wildflower whose bright yellow heads dot Japanese spring lawns. Tampopo is also the title of a 1985 Itami Jūzō film about a ramen quest. The color refers to a fresh tampopo bloom: a saturated, slightly red yellow with the matte finish of small ray-florets.
