Washed Ardennes
Washed Ardennes (#DEEFCC) is a soft lime with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (89°, 52%, 87%) places it in the balanced band at a light lightness. It works as a background wash, large-area fill, or soft illustration tone. Add a darker ink of the same hue when you need type over it. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary indigo. Old English wascan, to wash — past-participle of wash. As a color modifier, washed implies a pale-and-tone-reduced quality where the hue carries the visual register of multi-decade Connecticut-laundry-line repeatedly-washed-and-faded textile color-finish. Sits at the pale-and-faded end of the grid, parallel to faded and bleached in usage.
