Pressed Dust
Pressed Dust (#DEB8FE) is a soft indigo with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Latin pressāre, to press — past-participle of press. As a color modifier, pressed implies a clear-and-smoothed-and-flattened quality, the crisp color of Mid-Century-Modern freshly-pressed-shirt-and-trouser ironed-textile finish. Sits at the crisp-and-finished end of the grid, parallel to ironed and starched in usage.
Fine particulate matter — atmospheric dust from soil weathering, dry-lakebed loess, the micron-scale residue that settles on every surface in any room with air movement. The color refers to fresh undisturbed dust on a piano lid: a soft, slightly muted very pale warm gray with the powdery finish of micron-scale particles. Lighter than ash, warmer than stone.
