Kindled Toast
Kindled Toast (#DDAE07) is a true amber with a neon character. It sits at the high-saturation edge of its family. Use it sparingly, as signage, accent, or highlight against darker surfaces. Its HSL profile (47°, 94%, 45%) places it in the highly saturated band at a mid lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. For a confident two-color system, pair it with its complementary blue. For something softer, pull in its analogous neighbors on either side of the wheel.
Etymology
Old Norse kynda, to set on fire — past-participle of kindle. As a color modifier, kindled implies a saturated-and-newly-lit quality, the bright color of autumn-bonfire-and-stove-fire initial-combustion emission. Sits at the bright-and-warm end of the grid, parallel to ignited and aflame in usage.
Sugar-and-protein browning in bread — the Maillard reaction at the surface of a slice held against radiant heat. The color refers to a piece of medium-toasted white bread: a soft, warm tan with the matte finish of a dehydrated crust. Lighter than caramel, drier than honey, with the breakfast-table familiarity of an everyday color.
