Filmy Ammolite
Filmy Ammolite (#DCFCE9) is a soft green with a pastel character. It reads calm and airy, with enough chroma to feel intentional rather than washed out. Its HSL profile (144°, 84%, 93%) places it in the highly saturated band at a light lightness. Best used in small doses, like logos, CTAs, focus rings, or highlight text, where its saturation becomes a feature rather than noise. Etymology
Old English filmen, thin layer — adjectival suffix -y. As a color modifier, filmy implies a pale-and-thin-and-translucent quality, the pale color of Edwardian-period gauze-and-tulle wedding-veil-and-curtain thin-and-translucent textile surface. Sits at the pale-and-thin end of the grid, parallel to gauzy and sheer in usage.
The fossilized iridescent shell of Placenticeras ammonites — mined principally from the Bearpaw Formation in southern Alberta, Canada. The color refers to a polished ammolite cabochon: a saturated, slightly cool deep blue-green with the iridescent satin finish of structurally colored ancient nacre.
